Stunning! This log cabin has a twist to it – Option #4 half-square triangles surround four log cabins all sewn together. We did our quilt that is shown with three blocks across and three blocks down. Your kit and pattern will actually make 12 blocks.
It is easy to make it larger by adding more blocks to the side or bottom. We have chosen the “Celebrating Abe” fabrics in red, sage, and black. It is just scrappy, using any tan or beige in the background, any darks in the logs, but only red in the triangle units. You are only moments away for some great fun!
In our novel this quilt is given to Thomas by his mother. She told him this: “The red triangles are claws around the block of the log cabin. They represent the struggles in life while we are trying to find our dreams and happiness. Of course, the red center of the cabins is the heart of the home where love dwells.”
We used a scrappy light first border and an anything scrappy second border.
