The Scrap Basket Quilt is from the Square in a Square Book 1 (the blue book), pages 34 and 34. We changed it up a bit by making 36 baskets instead of 33. We set the baskets on point – 6 baskets across and 6 basket down with 25 solid setting blocks.

          You will need to cut your big basket squares first before cutting strips for the options.

          Follow steps 1, 2, and 3 as the book teaches. If you want to make all  the flying geese at once you will need to sew 110 – 3” background (7053) center squares and 1 3/8” (cut them 1 ½” to make it easier) scrap color strips. These will be for the basket points and border.

          In step 4 – setting triangles, you will need 5 – 8 ½” squares (7053)

The cut 4 squares - 4 ½” (7053) stays the same.

          Step 5 and 6 – forget about them.

          Finish the quilt by cutting:

                   Border 1 – red check,  cut 2 ½”

                   Border 2 – use 148 flying geese

                   Border 3 -  red check, cut  6”

          Binding is from your left over dark colors.
